The project

Learn to get hired, by doing it

Job Jam was a youth exchange about the job market. Instead of lectures, participants worked on real tasks: writing their CV, building a LinkedIn profile, practising interviews with HR professionals and applying to real job positions.

We invited young people who rarely get a chance like this, from Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, and gave them nine days in the Orlické hory to try, fail safely and try again, together with people from other countries.

Job Jam was funded by Erasmus+, so it was free for every participant.

The programme

What we actually did

  1. 1

    Write the CV

Everyone built a real CV and got feedback from the group.

  2. 2

    Build a LinkedIn profile

A profile that says who you are, not just where you studied.

  3. 3

    Practise job interviews

Mock interviews with HR professionals, then honest feedback.

  4. 4

    Interview locals in Prague

Small groups asked people about their jobs and how they got them.

  5. 5

    Apply to real jobs

Participants sent applications to real open positions.

  6. 6

    Make a leaflet

We finished with a digital leaflet for other young job seekers.

A word from one of the organisers

Job Jam was the first exchange our team put together, and honestly, I was nervous: forty people I had never met, from four countries, together for nine days. Luckily I was not doing it alone. Our partners took care of the budget and the travel, which let me focus on the programme and the people.

Somewhere around day three the worry turned into motivation. I watched participants rewrite their CVs for the third time, come out of a mock interview smiling and send off real job applications. Later, the first messages came that some of them had found work. That is when I knew this makes sense.

I learned more in those nine days than in months of planning, from the participants and from our partners, and it made all of us want to do it again, only better.
